Stress and Anxiety
Stress and anxiety can take a toll on our health, relationships and daily functioning. We can work together to help you navigate life’s challenges with increased resilience, stability and self-compassion. I’ll equip you with tools to regulate your nervous system, empowering you to manage your stress and anxiety in the long term.

Unresolved Traumas
Traumatic events from our past often inform how we live in the present. If you’re feeling stuck in old stories that are holding you back, we can work together to increase your inner awareness and self-compassion, desensitize and reprocess trauma through EMDR, and integrate your past with your present so you’re empowered to redefine your future.

Parenting and Relationships
In the mirror of relationships, we sometimes catch a glimpse of unconscious patterns ingrained or inherited, or of wounds from our childhood that influence how we show up in relationships. Maybe you want to parent differently than you were parented, but don’t know where to start. Maybe you’re having the same fight over and over with your partner, or repeatedly choosing the wrong person. We can work to heal your relational wounds and transform generational patterns, so you can develop more intentional expressions of love and connection in your life.

Children and Adolescents
It’s not easy learning to navigate today’s complex world. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for youth to be themselves, develop self-awareness, learn about healthy relationships and boundaries, explore strengths and unique gifts, and build skills that foster social-emotional resilience, preparing them to become socially and emotionally secure young adults.

Life Transitions
Life transitions are inherently destabilizing, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, losing a job or a relationship or experiencing a life-changing accident. I am here to listen and hold a compassionate space for you, for as long as it takes, because grief does not follow a linear trajectory. I will support you in integrating these experiences and finding meaning as you journey forward.

Medical Trauma and Chronic Pain
Chronic pain and medical issues of your own or a family member can have a significant impact on your quality of life. As the parent of a medically complicated child, I am passionate about supporting families, caregivers and individuals on their medical journeys. I provide a space where you can feel heard, understood, and guided towards growth, connection, self-compassion and resilience.

About your Counsellor

My name is Kate Walker (she/her). I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (MACP, RCC) in the province of British Columbia. I am passionate about accompanying others on their journey toward healing and discovering their unique vision of fulfillment, self-compassion, inner strength and self-worth. Doing this work is truly my privilege.
I bring a range of life experiences to my work, including a commitment to professional development, leadership and creativity, and lived experience with tragedy and loss. Life’s challenges have strengthened my intuition, patience, genuine curiosity and compassion, and I bring these gifts to my professional work with clients. I believe that with the right support and a dash of courage and self-belief, we can come out stronger, more resilient, and with a deeper sense of meaning in our lives.
How I show up…
In session, you can expect me to be warm, approachable, and non-judgmental – and I will never ask you to do work that I wouldn’t be willing to do myself. To show up as my best counsellor self, I go to counselling, practice yoga and meditation, stay connected to the people I love, and engage in professional development training to stay up to date on the most evidence-based and research-supported treatment approaches available.
